The Next Generation

Mike and Susan McCarthy expanded McCarthy Family Farm (formerly Trout Creek Orchard) by purchasing additional pear and apple orchards. They put their children Kate, Adam and Luke to work at a young age pruning trees, picking fruit and any other tasks the required on the farm. After leaving for a decade for college and career, Adam returned to Hood River in 2013 to raise his own kids in the Hood River community. Adam McCarthy is now general manager, continuing the family’s long legacy of sustainable farming at McCarthy Family Farm).

Kate and Luke both returned to Oregon and are involved in agriculture. Kate became a large animal veterinarian and in 2014 moved with her family to Tillamook, where her mom Susan was raised. After practicing for several years she took her love of cows to Tillamook Cheese where she works as the Director of Farm Engagement. Luke and his family returned to Hood River in 2015 and works for Rabobank focusing on agricultural loans. He helps with McCarthy Family Farm operations in his spare time.
